Biography:
Chiaki Kuriyama came to the attention of audiences with her appearance as Takako Chigusa, a knife fighter with deadly skills, in the 2000 thriller Battle Royale directed by Kinji Fukasaku. The action thriller featured teams of teens in school uniforms battling each other to the death.
Kuriyama's film credits include Toire no Hanako-san, Shikoku, Kamen gakuen, Mail, Into the Sun, Kill Bill Vol 1 and Exte: Hair Extensions.
In 2004 Kuriyama was nominated as the "Cinescape Genre Face of the Future Award Female" for her appearance in Kill Bill Vol 1. That same year she won the Best Fight Award at the MTV Movie Awards for her fight scene with Uma Thurman.
According to her biography prepared by Miramax Films in support of Kill Bill, Kuriyama's favorite movies include Trainspotting and Pulp Fiction.
